A gathering of Architects in the historical site of Ikogosi Warm Springs, Ekiti State provided the backdrop for a memorable experience.
The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) is delighted to announce the resounding success of the NIA National Dinner and Extraordinary General Meeting hosted by the Ekiti State Chapter from May 15th to 17th, 2024, at the picturesque Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, Ikogosi-Ekiti. The event whose theme is ‘Building Bridges: Connecting Architecture and Society’, was a celebration of impactful engagements and meaningful activities.
The festivities began with a dynamic 45-minute Media/Awareness Chat broadcast on the State Government’s radio and television stations, where the 2nd Vice President, Arc Sani Saulawa, FNIA, adeptly represented the NIA President, Arc Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA. This engaging session was followed by a warm courtesy visit to the State Government. The delegation was graciously received by Dr. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro, Secretary to the State Government, and other senior officials. Discussions focused on the welfare of architects and job opportunities within the State. The State Government pledged to address these concerns and encouraged the Chapter to collaborate with the appropriate MDA for land allocation for the Ekiti State secretariat building.
The NIA delegation included Arc Sani Saulawa, FNIA; Arc Ali Mukhtar, FNIA; Ekiti State Chapter Chair & Chair of the NIA Special Projects Committee, Arc T. Olawale Ajayi; Arc Ayodele Ajayi, LoC Chair; Arc Biola Akinola; and Arc Gbadamosi Farati. We were also honoured by the presence of Arc (Sir) Oladipo Ajayi, FNIA, PARCON, President of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON), and ARCON Registrar, Arc Umar Murnai, FNIA.
The visit was followed by a delightful lunch featuring an array of local Ekiti delicacies. The evening’s highlight was a vibrant cocktail party at the Warm Spring Poolside, offering a perfect setting for members to relax and socialise. The day they concluded with an NIA Council meeting that extended into the early hours of May 16th.
The second day was dedicated to the Extraordinary General Meeting, where the 2024 Constitution Review was carefully considered and approved by the General Assembly, and the day concluded with a grand dinner, highlighted by the presentation of awards to esteemed Chapter members, both living and deceased.
The final day marked the departure of participants, accompanied by heartfelt farewells. The NIA delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Arc (Sir) Oladipo Ajayi, FNIA, President of ARCON, at his residence. This significant meeting fostered peace and marked a pivotal step towards unity, harmony, and progress for the NIA and ARCON
The NIA National Dinner and Extraordinary General Meeting in Ekiti State were a tremendous success, fostering valuable discussions, strengthening bonds, and driving significant progress for the architectural community in Nigeria.
